Supervisor of Elementary Education - Dixie Bowen - 423-652-9225 bowend@btcs.org Dr. Dixie Chapman Bowen is the director of preschool, elementary and middle school education for Bristol Tennessee City Schools. Dr. Bowen began her career as an educator in 1991. She taught at Haynesfield Elementary for five years, served as elementary principal at Anderson Elementary for eight years, and was director of special education for one year. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from King College, a master's degree in administration from East Tennessee State University, and a doctorate in educational leadership from East Tennessee State University. Dr. Bowen supervises all five of the elementary schools in Bristol, Tenn. Her office oversees new employee processing for elementary, middle, and high schools; teacher certification issues; elementary curriculum; English as a Second Language; elementary textbooks; as well as all aspects of the elementary program. Our system has provided new programs and staff development to help teachers continually move toward the goal of having all Bristol Tennessee City Schools' students reading on grade level by third grade and maximizing student success. Kindergarten staggered enrollment will run from Monday, August 9 through Thursday, August 12. Parents will be notified on Thursday, August 5 what their child's staggered schedule will be.
