The Tennessee Department of Education announced at 3 p.m. this afternoon that effective immediately they have terminated their contract with Measurement Inc., the state’s testing vendor. Bristol Tennessee City Schools and many other districts have not received any testing booklets in grades 3-8 for Part II of TNReady assessments. Therefore, the assessments, which were scheduled to begin Monday, May 2, will not be given this school year. High school tests will continue as scheduled. Fairmount's Megan Mason Rotary Club Teacher of the Year

The Rotary Club of Bristol VA-TN honored Bristol’s most outstanding teachers on April 12, during the 29th annual Frank W. DeFriece, Jr. Teacher Awards Banquet. Teachers were nominated from the Bristol, TN, and Bristol, VA school systems with one teacher from each system selected as the 2016 Rotary Outstanding Teacher. Megan Mason from Fairmount Elementary School was this year's Tennessee winner. She earned a $2,500 cash award, a $500 donation for needed equipment to each teacher’s respective school, and a circulating plaque that will be on display at Fairmount. Read more.
