Save the Planet sends relief for hurricane victims

Vance Middle School’s Save the Planet Club loaded a truck on September 28 full of hurricane relief supplies bound for Houston to benefit victims of Hurricane Harvey.

The supplies were donated by BTCS students and staff members at all schools, Bristol Family YMCA, and Bless Your Heart Boutique. The Tennessee High School ROTC also collected money, which was used to purchase backpacks for students in the hurricane damaged areas.

The supplies will be delivered to the YMCA of Greater Houston, which is serving as a distribution center for locations throughout the city. While four YMCAs in Houston have been forced to close indefinitely, the ones that remain open are serving as distribution points to coordinate supplies. They are also providing free childcare and housing for those in need due to the hurricane damage.

A special thanks to Bristol Family YMCA for partnering with Save the Planet to distribute the supplies!
