Randy
Irvin
Coach
Randy Irvin was born and raised in Kingsport, Tennessee, and is
a 1975 graduate of Dobyns–Bennett High School. While at Dobyns-Bennett,
Irvin was a Tennessee High School State Champion Hurdler and State
record holder. He ran track for two TSSAA Hall of Fame coaches,
Dan Crowe and Tom Coughenhour.
Coach Irvin graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1980 where he
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. While attending
college,
Coach Irvin was a member of the East Tennessee State University Track Team
that won the Southern Conference Indoor Championships.
Coach Irvin began his teaching and coaching career at Tennessee High School
in the fall of 1980. He was an assistant coach at THS under Tom Murrell and
Andy Arnold before taking the head job in 2006. Coach Irvin also was an assistant
basketball coach under Dale Burns for 11 years. Irvin also works with the football
coaching staff by videotaping their games during the fall.
Irvin has been married to his wife Tracy since June 1991. When not instructing
students in drivers’ education or coaching student athletes on the track,
Coach Irvin can be most often be found fly fishing on the South Holston River.

Carla
Lilly
Coach
Carla Lilly was born and raised in Bristol, Virginia. Coach Lilly
graduated from John S. Battle High School in 1994. During her high
school career, Lilly was a four time-state qualifier in the Cross-Country
AA state meet, finishing in the top 25 three times. Lilly competed
in many track events, including the 200, 400, 4x4, 800, 4x800,
1600, 3200, Long Jump, and High Jump. She qualified for state her
freshman through junior years in the 3200 meter run. Then Lilly
changed gears and qualified for state her senior year in the 200
meter dash.
Coach
Lilly went to Lincoln Memorial University on a cross-country scholarship
where she led the team for three years. Coach Lilly graduated from
Lincoln Memorial University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Mathematics
and an ABA in Business.
In
2001, Coach Lilly started coaching at John S. Battle High School
where she coached three years in cross-country and two years in
track. In 2005, Coach Lilly started teaching and coaching at Tennessee
High School. Coach Lilly is also the assistant cross-country and
assistant track coach.
When
Coach Lilly is not teaching or coaching, she is probably out running
or biking or maybe snowboarding, wakeboarding, hiking, backpacking,
or any number of other outdoor activities.

Chase
Hicks
Coach
Chase Hicks was born in Erwin, Tennessee, but has lived here in
Bristol for the past 22 years. Coach Hicks is a 2001 graduate of
Tennessee High. While here as a student, he played football and
threw the discus and shot put. On the football field, Coach Hicks
played
on the offense that broke several of the school's rushing records
and went on to win the school's first playoff game in 10 years.
After his senior season, he was selected to the All-East Tennessee
Team and invited to play in the Tennessee All-Star game.
After
graduating, Coach Hicks went on to play football at Emory and Henry
College, where he lettered and started all four years he was there.
While playing offensive line for E&H, the Wasps set records in
two rushing catagories and
featured an All-American running back. Coach Hicks graduated from
E&H in 2006 with degrees in Business Management and Secondary
Education.
Coach
Hicks' first coaching job came in 2005 when he coached the offensive
line for the John Battle High School football team
while completing his student teaching. He joined the THS football
and track coaching staff in August of 2006 after graduating from
E&H.
When
he's not in the classroom or on the field, you can probably find
Coach Hicks on a golf course or a tennis court.

Brad
Stubbs
Coach
Brad Stubbs was born in Georgia, but spent his high school days
right here in Bristol. Coach Stubbs, one of two former Vikings
joining the THS athletic program this year, graduated in 1998.
While attending Tennessee High, Coach Stubbs competed in both track
and football. On the football field, Coach Stubbs spent time at
quarterback, running back, and free safety. During his football
career, he broke many school defensive records including the most
tackles in a season, which he still holds. On the track, Coach
Stubbs was a multi-event athlete, competing in many of the sprinting
events.
After
graduating, Coach Stubbs went on to play for East Tennessee State
University where he played free safety, strong safety, and outside
linebacker.
He
was
a
three year
letterman during his time there and in his senior year contributed
to ETSU's biggest win in years, a victory over the nation's
#1 ranked team
Georgia
Southern.
After
he spent his final semester at ETSU doing his student teaching
and spending time on the football field here at Tennessee High,
Coach Stubbs knew his future was in coaching. Upon graduating,
Coach Stubbs was hired by Volunteer High School, where he coached
for three years. Coach Stubbs finally returned to Bristol over
the summer and is now in his first year on Tennessee High's football
and track coaching staffs.
In
his time off, Coach Stubbs enjoys hunting and fishing.

Jeremy
Clonce
Coach
Jeremy Clonce is in his first year as Tennessee High's Pole Vault
coach. In past years, he has served as a track coach for Dobyns
Bennett and Sullivan North. Coach Clonce is also a graduate of
Sullivan North, where he played football, basketball, and ran track.
After high school, Coach Clonce continued his track career at Lees
McRae.
Aside
from coaching Tennessee High's pole vaulters, Coach Clonce also
serves as the VMS basketball coach. When not coaching, Coach Clonce
likes to spend his time on the golf course.

Glen
Johnson
Coach
Glen
Johnson is a Bristol, Tennessee, native. He graduated from Holston
Valley High School where he was an All
State Basketball player. Glen
is a retired wildlife officer who worked 27 years with the Tennessee
Wildlife Resources Agency. Coach Johnson competes in age group competition
in both shot put and discus. He has achieved one World Championship
and 28 National Championships with over 30 meet records. Glen coaches
to “give back” to a sport and a community that has been
special to him. Tennessee High is privileged to have Coach Glen Johnson
as part of our coaching staff
