The Mighty Viking Battalion has had many events happen in the past years. Some Annual events that the battalion participates in are the Veteran's Day Parade, the Christmas Parade, Military Ball, Fitness Challenge, and going to the VA hospital which stands for the Veterans Affairs. During the parades, the battalion of that semester go and march down the parade route calling cadence. At the VA they spilt up into two groups and visit the veterans. One group goes to the nursing home while the other goes to the injured ward. Many veterans at the nursing home do not have family members to go see them or they live too far away. The cadets that go are encouraged to write to the veterans they meet, a thank you note for their service when they get back to school. At the end of the school year all the cadets from both semesters come together again for the annual military ball. At the ball, awards are given out to many cadets. Some are ribbons, others are medals. Almost all the awards given can be placed on the uniform. These past years have been a great success.
Some other events that the cadets participate in are community service activities such as helping with rhythm and roots, helping down at Steele Creek for the cross country meet, or anywhere else people ask the cadets to volunteer. Last year the cadets had an opportunity to play football against East in the Army Navy Game. The Mighty Viking Battalion won and afterwards talked with East's cadets and had fun. To raise funds the cadets have held pancake breakfasts, car washes, and have helped set up the world's largest card stunt.
The cadet's also have the chance to join extracurricular teams and participate in competitions. Some of the teams include Drill Team, Color Guard, Raiders, Marksmanship, and Orienteering. Although the teams are relatively new, the cadets have participated and won several competitions. This semester is packed full with many competitions for all the teams.
