This is a sophomore level course that focuses on a variety of genres from world literature. There is a strong emphasis on grammar and writing and how they relate to the persuasive essay. This emphasis on the persuasive essay will help to prepare student in taking the 11th grade state-mandated TCAP Writing Assessment. The Gateway Test is given as the final exam in this course and a

passing score is a state requirement for graduation from Tennessee schools.
