BTCS now has three additional school resource officers providing service to its five elementary schools. The three officers expand the school resource partnership with the City of Bristol, Tennessee, currently in place at Tennessee High School and Vance Middle School.
Officer Nathan Greene, who has been with the Bristol Tennessee Police Department for 16 years, is serving at Fairmount and Holston View. Officer Greene also has previous experience as a school resource officer as a substitute at Tennessee High and Vance. Officer Mario Rivera, who has been with the Bristol Tennessee Police Department for four years, is serving Anderson and Avoca. Officer Terry Robinson, a retired officer with 25 years of experience, is serving at Haynesfield.
The School Resource Officer grant program through the Tennessee Department of Education funds the program expansion to pay for salaries, while the City of Bristol provides training and equipment.
“We are excited about the opportunity to offer this additional measure of safety for our elementary students and staff,” Dr. Tudor said. “I am grateful to our school board and the city of Bristol for recognizing the benefits of the school resource officer program and the opportunity to expand it to our elementary community.”
