RETURNING STUDENT INFORMATION UPDATE (ALL STUDENTS)

You should have received an email recently that was sent to the address on file with instructions to complete the Returning Student Information Update 2021-2022. All parents/guardians should complete the online registration. The online forms include information the school district is required to have on file, as well as the most up-to-date contact information in case of emergencies. Parents will use the PowerSchool Parent Portal to access the Returning Student Registration 2021-2022 form. You must use your parent account and not your child’s account to complete this task. To begin, log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal and click the “Returning Student Information Update 2021-2022” button located on the left. Further instructions for accessing PowerSchool are outlined below. It is necessary to complete each step and click the “SUBMIT” button at the end in order for your work to be saved. Parents or guardians with more than one child must complete the online process for each child.

STUDENT ACTIVITY FEES

Each year, we request fees for instructional supplies, as outlined in Bristol Tennessee Board of Education Policy 6.709. Although not required, these fees are necessary to enhance students' learning experiences. For your convenience, elementary ($20) and Tennessee Middle ($30) activity fees may now be paid during the online registration process. Tennessee Middle and Tennessee High fees by course will be communicated by your child's teacher if applicable.

LAPTOP DISTRIBUTION INFORMATION (4-12)

Every student in grades 4-12 will be provided a laptop. Returning students must bring their BTCS backpack and charger with them in order to be issued a laptop. Except students in grades 6-9, who will be issued a new charger with their device. Students receiving laptops for the first time will be issued a backpack. Laptops will be distributed at each child's school (for the students in that school only), with the exception of Tennessee Middle School where students will go to Viking Hall. Parents and students can expedite the time spent at the on-site training by completing a portion of the process online prior to arriving to laptop distribution. The online portion includes: 1) verifying and updating your child's information, 2) watching a brief training video, and 3) paying (or selecting a payment method for) the $50 technology usage fee. Any technology fines must be paid in full prior to a student being issued a laptop.

Elementary and Tennessee Middle School

Students in grades 4-8 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to pick up their laptop. Parents/legal guardians must provide valid identification to ensure the safety of each student's information.

  • Monday, July 26-2:30-7:30 p.m. - Anderson and Holston View
  • Monday, July 26-2:30-7:30 p.m. - Tennessee Middle School at Viking Hall
  • Tuesday, July 27-2:30-7:30 p.m. - Avoca, Fairmount, Haynesfield

Tennessee High School

  • Monday, August 2-7:30-9:30 a.m. - Tennessee High

Parents of Tennessee High students are not required to attend laptop distribution. However, your child will not be issued a laptop until a parent/guardian completes the online process. If you need assistance or access to a computer to complete the online process, please contact the school at (423) 652-9494 and press "2" for the Counseling Office to schedule an appointment.

    • New Parent Account
      • If you have never accessed the parent portal before, click "New Parent Account." This information was provided in a personalized email and a letter than was mailed to your home in mid-July. If you do not have access to it, please contact your child's school.

  2. CLASSLINK

    • ClassLink is a single-sign-on platform which allows teachers and students to use one username and password to access online resources, such as BrainPop, Renaissance Place (AR), Canvas, and email. ClassLink performs best using the Google Chrome browser.

  3. CANVAS

    • Canvas is where your child and you will access online information such as course and school announcements, content, and assignments for their scheduled classes this year.

  4. STUDENT EMAIL

    • Students in grades 4-12 are provided with a school district email account but are only able to communicate with other BTCS students and faculty. You may read more about student email accounts in the student handbook.

SCHOOL MEALS

School nutrition provides a variety of healthy and appetizing food options daily! Menus are available via Nutrislice, which is accessible via a mobile app or on the district website. Parents can view and print menus, access nutritional information and allergens, and more. Download the Nutrislice app from the App Store or Google Play. The USDA has approved for BTCS to provide free meals for all students through June 30, 2022.  Students may still purchase items in addition to what is included in the basic meal. For additional purchases, we encourage you to use MySchool Bucks to access your child's school meal account. MySchoolBucks allows you to view your child's purchase history, set up notifications for low balances, and add funds to your child's lunch account. Please note a $1.25 fee applies to each credit card transaction. Go to myschoolbucks.com or download the mobile app.
