Students met at Fairmount Elementary on May 18 to showcase their learning in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) through the Robotics Showcase. Eight teams from three elementary schools competed in the VexIQ Robotics Challenge: Slapshot.
This game required students to engineer and build a robot that could trigger a variety of devices to release discs onto the playing field. Students then used their robot to scoop up the discs and launch them under a bar to score points on the opposite end of the field.
Students were paired with another team to earn as many points as possible during the given time period. At the end of the qualifying round, teams were sorted into competition groups to compete for the final event.
