In this program, students learn the coding languages Python and Javascript through hands-on labs, learn to debug/troubleshoot programs, and learn the basics of application design. Through proficient work and a passing dual credit test score, students can earn college credit through Northeast State, and a passing AP score provides college credit as well. In addition, students learn important life skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork.

Most students in the Coding program of study must go on to complete postsecondary work at a two-year or a four-year institution. Northeast State offers an associate degree in programming and East Tennessee State offers a bachelor's degree in computer science. The computer science field is growing much faster than average, with 25% job growth in our area alone. The average salary for a software developer is $120,730 according to U.S. News & World Report.

Computing: With a qualifying AP test score, a student earns college credit in a first-semester, introductory college course in computing.
