Program Summary

The Cybersecurity program of study offers many things for students to explore. This program provides a safe environment for students to learn things like penetration testing, systems administration, software vulnerabilities, and ways others use computers for malicious intent. Students will learn how to use Linux terminals, networking, and participate in hands-on labs. Students who successfully complete the program will be prepared to readily pursue cybersecurity at the postsecondary level.

Career Opportunities

Most students in the Cybersecurity program of study must go on to complete postsecondary work at a trade school, a two-year school, or a four-year university. Northeast State offers an associate degree in cyber defense and East Tennessee State offers a degree concentration in cybersecurity and modern networks. The cybersecurity field is growing much faster than average, with 23% job growth in our area alone. The average salary for an information security analyst is $102,600 according to U.S. News & World Report.

Computing: With a qualifying AP test score, a student earns college credit in a first-semester, introductory college course in computing.
