Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program

This page is to assist parents with information about the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) and other assessments BTCS students may take according to classes chosen during a school year. For more information or questions, please contact your child's school testing coordinator or Destiny McRee, district data and testing program assistant using the contact information above.

Assessment is an integral part of the educational process. Accurately measuring student progress is a key component to providing all of our students with the education they need to be successful.  Assessment data is used to improve our methods and to better prepare our students for college and career.

Resources for Students and Parents

Why TCAP?

The Tennessee Department of Education provides resources to help families better understand the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP). TCAP is the state assessment for English language arts, math, science and social studies. Click on the link below to be taken to the Tennessee Department of Education website to access additional information.

TCAP Parent Portal - this resource is currently available for parents of students that tested in the spring 2022 operational window. Parents only need the student's ID number to access the platform, where they can securely view score reports and additional resources to interpret assessment results. The department encourages feedback via the survey in the portal.

  • Website - The Tennessee Department of Education has a website to provide additional information about TCAP score reports in order to help families better understand their students' individual score reports, as well as next steps for supporting their students' academic progress. The website includes detailed explanations of each section of the individual score report and links to additional resources.
