CKLA/TNFSCS Placement Tests

August & January

The purpose of administering the placement test is to determine what gaps students may have in the English language code and to inform grouping decisions so teachers can provide targeted, small group instruction that fills their skills gaps.   

Results will be used to determine groups. Results are not typically distributed.

State achievement tests will be administered to measure student mastery and growth over the course of a school year in English, math, science, and social studies.  The assessment will be administered paper/pencil for grades 2-5 in all subject areas. The assessment will be administered online for grades 6-8 in all subject areas. Grade 2 TCAP will only include ELA and math.  

Test Length: 30 - 85 minutes

Individual Profile Reports will be shared with parents when released by the Tennessee Department of Education.

State achievement tests will be administered to measure student mastery and growth over the course of a school year. EOC assessments are given to help measure how much a student grows academically in a particular content area. End-of-Course assessments will be administered online in all tested subject areas.

Test Length: 35 – 85 minutes

Individual Profile Reports will be shared with parents and students when released by the Tennessee Department of Education.

IOWA Algebra I Readiness Assessment

February 24, 2025

Identified 6-7th graders

The IOWA Algebra Readiness Assessment will be administered to identified 6th and 7th graders.

Test Length: 50 minutes

Data will be shared with parents to determine advanced math placement in grades 7 and 8.

The ACT Assessment will be administered to all juniors during the school day.  The ACT is a college readiness assessment administered to evaluate high school achievement and college readiness.

The SAT will be an option for juniors and seniors during the school day in the fall. The SAT is used to measure a high school student’s readiness for college.

TCAP-Alt includes alternative assessments available to students with disabilities for whom participation in the regular state assessment is inappropriate, even with the use of extensive accommodations.  Approximately one percent of the students’ population will participate in alternative assessments. The TCAP-Alternate assessments will include the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) assessments in English language arts and math, as well as the TCAP-Alternate assessment in science and social studies. The DLM assessments are designed to be administered online and the TCAP-Alternate science and social studies is designed to be administered via paper.
