The Tennessee Tiered Supports Center, in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Education, has named Bristol Tennessee City Schools a recipient of the 2024-25 RTI²-A+B Change Makers Award.
The Change Makers Award recognizes Tennessee school districts that have strengthened and aligned their Response to Instruction and Intervention for Academics and Behavior (RTI²-A+B) tiered support systems, creating lasting and sustainable change that positively impacts every student.
BTCS was selected for its excellence in building responsive systems that support student growth, its commitment to high-quality coaching and professional learning, and its consistent alignment of supports across schools. The district will soon share its practices as a Model of Demonstration for school systems across Tennessee.
“This recognition affirms the daily work of our teachers, leaders, and staff who are committed to helping every student succeed,” said Dr. Annette Tudor, director of schools. “By strengthening how we support both academics and behavior, we are ensuring that our students not only achieve but also thrive. I am incredibly proud of the dedication of our entire BTCS community.”
The Tennessee Tiered Supports Center praised BTCS for its vision and dedication, noting: “Districts like Bristol Tennessee City Schools show what’s possible when schools commit to building strong, sustainable systems of support. We are proud to celebrate their impactful achievement and look forward to sharing their story as they continue on the path of becoming a Model of Demonstration for school districts across the state of Tennessee.”
