We love seeing our alumni do incredible things, and this one is especially exciting for our community! Tennessee High School graduate Gavin Huffman (Class of 2014) will be one of the Army helicopter pilots participating in the flyover at tonight’s truck race at Bristol Motor Speedway! Gavin’s journey is one to be proud of: 🇺🇸 THS graduate and ROTC participant 🎓 Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Tech 🚁 U.S. Army National Guard pilot (Captain) ✈️ Commercial pilot with Allegiant Airlines Gavin was selected for Army National Guard aviation with the Alcoa, Tennessee, unit (1-111th) when he commissioned as a second lieutenant upon graduation. He went on to graduate from U.S. Army Flight School in 2020. Gavin now serves with distinction while also flying commercially right here in Tennessee. We’re also proud to share that Gavin is the son of Ronda Huffman, a valued member of our BTCS Technology Department. What a special moment for their family! If you’re at the race tonight, be sure to look to the skies and cheer on one of our own as he helps kick off an unforgettable evening.

Anderson Elementary School had a slam dunk kind of afternoon last Thursday! 🏀

Anderson's second graders were celebrated for winning an attendance challenge, earning T-shirts and a special visit from Tennessee High School basketball players Braden Howard, Reed Miller, and Russell Blevins.

The Viking basketball players not only helped pass out shirts, but also shared encouraging, motivational words with students as they prepare for TCAP testing. They reminded students that showing up, working hard, and believing in themselves makes all the difference.

The fun didn’t stop there! Students cheered on a dunk contest featuring the high school players, Principal John Sproles, and two student representatives chosen by their peers!

It was an exciting afternoon filled with energy and encouragement. Way to go, Anderson—and way to Be Present! Every Viking. Every Day.

A Full-Circle Reading Moment for Redhawks!

Read Across America Week at Fairmount Elementary School included a special visit from some familiar faces. Former Fairmount students who now attend Tennessee Middle School returned to the halls where their love of reading first began.

Thanks to the efforts of Fairmount librarian Allyson Rutherford and Tennessee Middle School language arts teacher Alison Quickel, these middle schoolers spent time reconnecting with their former teachers and reading to younger Redhawks eager to hear a good story.

Along the way, they shared what life is like in middle school, answered questions from curious elementary students, and helped encourage the next generation of readers by opening up books together.

It was a joyful celebration of reading, connection, and community, and a wonderful reminder that once you’re a Fairmount reader, you’re always part of the story. ❤️ 📖

Today we celebrate Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day and the incredible team that keeps Bristol Tennessee City Schools running smoothly every single day.

Our maintenance and facilities staff do far more than fix what’s broken, build what’s needed, troubleshoot problems, and keep our buildings and grounds looking their best. What truly sets them apart is how deeply they care about our students and staff. They take great pride in creating and maintaining safe, welcoming spaces where students learn, achievements are celebrated, and teams, clubs, and performers pursue excellence.

Thank you for the skill, dedication, and heart you bring to our schools. We are grateful for you.
