The Catherine Susan Dunn Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior who plans to study music or education. Catherine Dunn graduated from Tennessee High in 1997. She excelled in academic, athletics, music, and as a student leader. Catherine then graduated from Brigham Young University with an English degree. She was a compassionate person who made others feel special. Catherine was beloved by her peers and was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, and mother to her three children.

The Hart Sisters Nursing Scholarship is a $2,500 award provided by two Tennessee alumnus, Jewel Hart Coombe, a graduate of the class of 1946, and her sister, Margaret Hart Reisenberg, a graduate of the class of 1936. Ms. Coombe served as a nurse in the Air Force during Vietnam while Ms. Riesenberg served as a nurse in the Army during World War II with General Patton’s forces at Normandy. This scholarship is given annually to a senior who plans to pursue a career in nursing.

The Tony Mitchell Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to a student who demonstrates the character traits that made Tony Mitchell a true, lifelong Viking: sportsmanship, determination, and humility. Tony, a 1975 graduate of Tennessee High, excelled in baseball, basketball, and football. After graduation, he continued his education and baseball career at Milligan College. In 1985, Tony returned to THS, where he remained until his retirement in 2009, to teach math and coach baseball and football. Beloved by students, players, and colleagues, Coach Mitchell exemplified kindness and care to all he encountered in the classroom and on the field.

The Coach Dale Burns Student-Athlete Award provides a graduating senior female athlete $1,000 and a graduating senior male athlete $1,000. During a lengthy career as the Vikings head basketball coach, Dale Burns won more than 500 games. Coach Burns founded the nationally-recognized Arby's Classic basketball tournament. Additionally, Coach Burns served as a teacher and athletic director at Tennessee High for many years.

The William Scheuer Outstanding Attitude Award is $1,000 given annually in honor of William Scheuer. Mr. Scheuer was a gentleman who always exuded a positive attitude. He is fondly remembered for his ability to encourage others, see strength in others, and find strength in himself during difficult times. To honor his legacy of optimism, his family and the Bristol Morning Rotary Club established this scholarship award.
