Advisory Council

Family Resource Center Advisory Council

 

The BTCS Family Resource Center Advisory Council was established in accordance with the 2006 Family Resource Center Guidelines. The membership is representative of the school district, service agencies that network with the Family Resource Center, and representatives of families served by the Family Resource Center. Parent representation is no less than 50 percent of the council membership. 


Membership on the 2020 council includes:

  • 15 family representatives
  • 1 Sullivan County Regional Health Department representative
  • 1 United Way of Bristol representative
  • BTCS:  Supervisor, Student Services
  • BTCS:  Supervisor, Elementary Curriculum & Instruction
  • BTCS:  Director, Attendance, Transportation, & Safety
  • BTCS:  Principal, Fairmount Elementary School
  • BTCS:  3 school counselors:  Fairmount Elementary School, Avoca Elementary School, Anderson Elementary School
  • BTCS:  Family Resource Center Assistant

Responsibilities include: 

  • Collection of information from needs assessment
  • Discussion of Family Resource Center goals
  • Feedback on current programs/services offered
  • Suggestions for future programming
  • Recruitment of additional parent representatives

The Family Resource Center Advisory Council meets twice/school year at the BTCS Administration Building. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the council is currently communicating by phone and email updates. During normal times, meetings last approximately one hour with the program focusing on the responsibilities listed above and a guest speaker highlighting upcoming events and/or agency opportunities to be offered through the services of the BTCS Family Resource Center.
